The new legislation changes have come into effect to allow incorporation of hemp into food. Cannabis sativa seeds may be a food for sale or used as an ingredient in a food for sale if:

The seeds: 

1) are seeds of low THC Cannabis sativa; and
2) contain not more than 5 mg/kg of total THC; and
3) if the food is for retail sale – are non-viable and hulled; and
the only cannabinoids in or on the seeds are naturally present.
